Hallo!! I know, we're strange, we just got to Munich, but we are headed to Salzburg, Austria for the weekend – we got our rental car, hotel, and of course our “Sound of Music Tour” booked ( http://www.panoramatours.com/Detail.fc?sd_type=tour&idobject=b9084cbf-4ccd-4d71-8bef-1d136340cb31 ). I have been looking everywhere for an outfit like she wears in the movie…very hard to find the kind she wears. I’ll keep trying – maybe in Austria! Please pray for our safety since we’ll be driving there – YIKES! Ronnie wants to drive around the mountains. I am sure we’ll have plenty photos/videos after this adventure! I told Ronnie it will be nice to get away for a weekend together – but funny – we are “away” already.
I also found this funny video online that will give you a taste of what we are experiencing. I found it because I was trying to figure out how to cook weisswurst. Alexis ate it the first way (only had it once – we think it upset her tummy) – Ronnie and I do the true Bavarian style – it is weird – but it is soooo yummy! We are in love with the mustard the guy suggests – we went and got some! I am sure we will bring some home. Video is a little long, but entertaining: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-cook-and-eat-bavarian-white-sausages .
Ok grandparents more on Alexis… She now says “Amen” after we do before we eat (so cute). She also “meows” and does the whinny dog sound “nnn…nnnn..nnnnn”. She got those two from her books. She also knows how to get down from the couch and bed all by herself – does the good ole back it down method. Always gives Ronnie a heart attack to watch her cause she is so fast.
One more thing, I was telling Ronnie a thought I had – How in America, Germans are almost always portrayed as being the enemy in the movies during the war and on TV documentaries. So really as far as Germans go – I had a warped vision of them due to the way our culture is, even though the war was obviously a very long time ago. So for the first few days – it actually made me stiffen up when I heard an older man speaking German behind me. Sad isn’t it. It’s just not a voice you hear other than in the movies. Now I am getting used to it – but it still is in my mind how out of all places, we are here. God sure has a way of revealing things to us and changing our minds and lives. I thank him for this experience and changing my views on other cultures. Though we do and eat things differently – we are just the same – there are many more similarities than differences.
Well that is all for now for my deep thoughts – I hear the hills calling me with the Von Trapps. One good thing, it will be the first weekend without any rain forecasted! YAY! Hopefully you guys will get a break too. We’ll write more next week! Please pray that God will protect us! Love and blessings to all! Us3
