So time is somehow going by fast, sorry I got behind in my blog, trying to catch up – almost there! Problem is I take too many photos, and then I forget I have to upload them all and it takes awhile.
I finally got last weeks (#8/9) photos and videos up. There are a lot, but it will give you a good taste of what we see daily.
Let’s see…updates on us…Things are getting better here day by day. Some days we get really homesick, other days we’re just fine. Ronnie is doing much better at work. His boss came into town last week and many issues got worked out with his last Paris trip. His headaches are going away - thank goodness! Me, I am still trying to connect with other mommies. I met a few ladies at a little cafe and I am meeting with them at my first playgroup this coming Friday. We also went to church this Sunday for the first time (http://www.destinychurch.de/ ) and met some great people. Hopefully we’ll end up doing a few things with them.
The church was great – it is really small and they rent out a room in a restaurant to meet in. It’s only a 7 min walk for us from our flat. It is a Protestant contemporary church like how we are used to back at home. Only thing is they do not have anything for Alexis, so she either joins us for service (yea right), or we have to take turns on the weekends where one goes to service, the other goes to the children’s service (ages 3 and up) – so Alexis just plays. Ronnie said the sermon was great, and Alexis enjoyed being with the other kids. I was kind of bummed I missed the service because I am dying to be in church, but that’s OK.
Alexis is cutting a new tooth on the bottom – poor thing. She is still pretty chipper considering and still smiling away at everyone on the streets. She really knows how to get people to come up to her. It is starting to get wacky like in Paris – where people just flock to her. They ramble on and on to her in German and blow her kisses and/or kiss her hand. It’s very overwhelming sometimes. Majority of them are older people. I just smile and say thank you, but sometimes they don’t leave and just keep talking to her. It’s great though – I see it as hey – God made her to bring smiles to these people! Makes mami and papi proud! J
We have been taking it easy the past two weekends and explored all around us. We went into many churches – there are so many in such a small area. All Catholic. We saw a few Sunday night masses and they were very empty. The churches are huge and amazing inside – crazy to see them so empty. We ran into a few gay parades/outdoor raves. It got pretty unsettling after awhile. We saw things we had never seen…including a guy walking around naked with just a g-string, men in leather lederhosen, she-males & he/he, she/she kissing out in the open…you name it…sin city!!! This part of Munich really needs some prayers! Some of them looked so lost all drunk and messed up. Icing on the cake is when I see Alexis practically breaking her neck to see something, I look up and it is these guys playing with a blow-up doll wearing a thong. OH MY! Poor Alexis – her poor eyes!
Much more to type about….I’ll write more soon…sleepies kicking in! Love you guys! R, J & A
