Let's call this blog "Things to get used to". Ok - I am officially allergic to France and today, Ronnie has now joined me. Oh man - our allergies - mine have been going crazy from day one. I never get allergies this bad. Main trigger is all the cigarette smoke. You can't get away from it - so crazy how many people smoke. Poor Alexis and her little lungs when we go out. I hope Germany is not this bad! Pray for these people and their health! So sad. :(
Let's talk about food...whoa. Ok - you need to lose weight? Come to Paris! You walk so much and unless you eat the basket of bread that comes with every meal - portions are small and come with hardly any side dishes. Plus the best is when there is no English translation on the menu - so you just pick...I am batting 2 in 6 on plates I liked. I had to do the ole "spit in the napkin" trick it was that bad on one (and it was a "cheap" plate - $16 - uh yea - no guilt!). I could not even tell you what the meat was. Hehehe! Also it is funny when a small carafe of wine is cheaper than a small bottle of Coke or water.
The people - fascinating - very friendly thus far and very interesting. Like I said wonderful people watching. Everyone is attracted to Alexis and thus I meet a lot of people. They are not interested in me - they just want to talk to Alexis. Neither of us have a clue on what they are saying - so we just say "bonjour", nod and grin, and say "au revoir"! :) I get a good giggle when I see so many "Converse" high top sneakers being worn here - by fashionable people (remember those - I think the 80's). They even make baby ones - I should get some for Alexis ;P
Apartment - BEST shower I have ever had - I am in love with our shower - I want one back at home...sooooo nice. Trash - crazy - we have 3 recycle bins - big enough to fit 1 days worth of trash - sooo tiny - that or we produce a lot of trash! The sink - it's one of those where food can not go down it. So, say you eat a bowl of cereal - have leftovers - yes, you have to scoop out the soggy cereal and throw it away, then pour the milk out in the sink - puke! I am realizing just how spoiled I am already!
Ronnie is doing great so far at work - he really enjoys everyone there and is excited about the job. It is about a 45 min commute for him to get to work between walking and the train. So we do not see him in the morning and he gets home at 7PM. It is hard for Alexis and I cause we miss him. Please pray that we figure out a way for Ronnie and I to have alone time once Alexis goes to sleep (normally around 10PM - it does not get dark until then - and she gets time with her daddy). So far all is well - but I'm sure after weeks of this it will get harder on us.
I will keep adding photos to the gallery as I get time and place them into the appropriate week. Best thing to see if there are any new ones is to look at the date updated and time. Writing like this is random as I get time (Alexis is taking a long nap). Tonight we go up the Eiffel tower! - Ciao for now!
