We had another exciting weekend. Saturday we went to the Musee Picasso (www.musee-picasso.fr) - it was amazing (being that he is my favorite artist). I could not get enough of it!! The area that his museum was in, The Place des Vosges (laid out in 1605 by Henri IV), was beautiful. I heard violins playing and followed the music and there it was – my first outdoor French symphony (hehehe)! It was a group of about 12 people playing string Classique Metropolitan music. I think Alexis was more captivated than I was! We got a CD of them playing. Great memory captured – so now during our breakfast time we have been listening to them! What’s funny is we ran into the same group, in a totally different location and area the next day! That’s when you know you’ve been touring a little too much! ;) That day we also went to the Centre Pompidou (www.centrepompidou.fr) museum and got to see some more Picasso, Miro and Matisse. We ran out of time to see all of this museum, but we got to see a few great works.

Sunday we were going to take a train and go to Versailles, but found out the palace is not stroller or backpack friendly, so we did not go. Instead, we went to the Musee d’Orsay (www.musee-orsay.fr) got to see Van Gogh, Renoir, Degas and of course many others. Majority of the exhibits were paintings and sculptures dating from between 1848 and 1914. We went to the Champs-Elysees area where all your cool designer shops are that you can’t afford, but like to drool at. This area was created around 1667. We tried to see the Sainte Chapelle church, it was closed and then the Opera House, it was closed. We were sad – at least we got to see the outside and peak in the Opera House. After jumping on and off Metros and trying to squeeze everything in for our last day, we were pooped. I will hopefully be able to post some photos tomorrow of these adventures.

I was thinking of how odd it is that I have not been inside of a car now for 25 days. Yet, I have traveled more than I ever would back at home. Pretty crazy being at home we drive everywhere. I love the walking – gets me off my hinny! Though my back and little legs and feet did not like it the first week, they are used to it now.

Another interesting thing is the grocery store. You don’t load up and get a cart full of food; you only get a small hand basket and get enough for a day or two. You can get cart, but you would be the only one with one and you have to pay 1 Euro for it. Patience is the key here, in that the normal average wait to check out is 15 mins. The selection of food is great and worth it though.

5 more days left of Paris. Sniff, sniff. - Us 3
